Today I am kicking off the Blog Tour for a great new release in the Romance genre. This is not my usual genre but this is a great read with an element of suspense that will appeal to many readers.
Abby’s Promise by Rebekka Dobson
Available from Amazon
He walked out of my life eight years ago, and for the first couple of years, I wrote him faithfully.
Then life happened, and we lost track of each other. Now he’s back; appearing one day on campus and sweeping me off my feet. He looks the same—rough stubble on his square jaw, broody brown eyes, thick brows that always lifted when I made him laugh. My Jo-Jo has come home after eight years in Afghanistan.
She looks the same as I remember her in high school, but now she’s all woman—sophisticated, educated, and just as curvy as ever. And now she’s a professor, and I’m falling for her all over again like I did at senior prom. War screwed me up, but every day Abby was my saving grace.
She promised one day she’d never let me go, made me promise I’d come back to her. I’ve come back to claim that promise. There’s just one problem: Abby’s moved on. How will I convince the love of my life that a day never went by without her on my mind?
Romance is a genre I don’t usually read but I like to read something different and I wasn’t disappointed.
This is a story of how love will find a way. Abby and JoJo have been friends since school and made a promise to each other. JoJo joins the Marines and is shipped off to Afghanistan and Abby gets herself into one mess after another.
Now JoJo is back and life is not how he left it. Problems at home a dysfuntional relationship with his father …. He goes back to college and ends up with Abby as his tutor.
A story of coincidences and fate stepping in regularly to throw a spanner in the works plus JoJo’s father on a mission to ensure his son never finds happiness or peace. Suspense is interwoven through the book which makes for additional interest. A steadily moving gripping read.
I am still not sure about Abby’s character there seemed to be a little something missing but it did develop well. JoJo we have to love the ‘hardened soldier’ act was never going to work and I found myself persuading him to do things. He is a realistic character his friendly personality being in direct contrast to his father’s made the family relationships work perfectly.
A well written, entertaining read that will appeal to readers who like romantic suspense.
