#BookReview: A MURDER OF MAGPIES by Mark Edwards. @mredwards #psychologicalthriller #crimefiction

Yesterday I shared my review of THE MAGPIES (if you missed that you can read it here.)  Today, as promised, I am sharing my review of book 2, A MURDER OF MAGPIES.  Although this is a novella it is a brilliant read.  My review of the finale: THE LAST OF THE MAGPIES will be shared on release day, 30th April.

A Murder of Magpies (The Magpies, #2)A Murder of Magpies by Mark Edwards

Available from AMAZON

When Jamie and Kirsty move into their first home together, they are full of optimism. The future, in which they plan to get married and start a family, is bright. The other residents of their building seem friendly too, including the Newtons, a married couple who welcome them to the building with open arms.

But then strange things start to happen. Dead rats are left on their doorstep. They hear disturbing noises, and much worse, in the night. After Jamie’s best friend is injured in a horrific accident, Jamie and Kirsty find themselves targeted by a campaign of terror.

As they are driven to the edge of despair, Jamie vows to fight back—but he has no idea what he is really up against . . .

My Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a short novella sequel to The Magpies (which I read and loved a few years ago). In fact The Magpies is a book that stayed with me so I was thrilled to find a space to catch up with Lucy prior to Last of the Magpies being released.

Jamie has emigrated to Australia and is getting on with his life – or trying – when a message brings the past back to haunt him and he travels back to England to face his nemesis.

Lucy is an interesting character I dont ‘like’ her but I do admire the author for the skill in building her character and in this short book that character continues to develop.

Jamie lost everything thanks to Lucy, his wife, his baby, his home and probably his sanity. The opportunity to get his revenge on Lucy is too much for him to pass up.

More suspense and intrigue with unique characters and a scarily realistic plot this is a brilliant page turner. 5 stars from me I am now waiting impatiently for the release of the finale.
