What the bloggers and readers thought:
Joanna Larum’s Reviews
This is a fast-paced story which kept me glued to my Kindle and, despite trying desperately to guess who the killer was, I failed again. I would recommend this series to all lovers of police procedural books and I can’t wait for the next installment. Read more here
Linda Strong Book Reviews
Well paced action kept me glued to the pages. There are plenty of secondary characters to watch and wonder about. Suspense starts on the very first page and builds until the surprising ending.Read more here
The Word is Out
The author keeps up the pace and delivers a great plot covering very current crimes with an ending which leaves the reader eagerly awaiting book number three. Read more here

I love the various points of views! I felt like each give me a wider perspective without ruining the surprise. The pacing is awesome, I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the story. The twists and turns were plenty and well timed. Read more here
On The Shelf Reviews
Rachel is rapidly becoming one of my favourite characters. She’s a no nonsense kind of person, who can seem a little abrasive at times but that’s only because she wants justice for the murder victims. She also has to deal with her rebellious daughters, one of which has just turned eighteen and is determined to push her mum’s buttons. Read more here

I enjoyed the further character development of Rachel. Her past continues to impact on her present, both in personal and professional terms. Her future remains uncertain due to her links with Jed and the secrets she is hiding from her family which might also affect her career. Read more here

As ever Helen quickly gets the reader into both the plot and the characters, so skillul is her writing. You quickly feel as if you know these people and that you are a bystander at a safe distance. Nothing that is going to give you nightmares or put you off your dinner (other than a murder or two!) and a smile along the way. Well rounded characters that have that extra something to them- not just a part of the plot. Read more here

‘Two Victims’ is superbly written but then I wouldn’t expect anything else from Helen H. Durrant. She certainly knows how to grab your attention from the start and once she has you in her grip, she won’t let you go again until the end of the book. Read more here

Herding Cats
Told through the narrative of the police investigation with entwined chapters from other characters, this novel had me hooked from the beginning. The subject matter can make uncomfortable and dark reading for some but sheds light on what I believe is a serious and growing issue in our society. The pages turned themselves and with a few twists and surprises thrown into the mix I couldn’t put it down until I had reached a conclusion.Read more here

Throughout the book there are so many twists and turns you don’t know where to go and which way the case is going to take. Yet again this is another brilliant book by Helen and I can’t wait to see where the series goes next. Read more here
